A Look at the Samsung B3410
The Samsung B3410 is an attractive mobile phone pitched at consumers who like to keep in touch via sms text messaging or social networking sites due to the design of the handset and the fact that it incorporates a physical slide out qwerty keypad.
The B3410 measures a fairly standard 103 x 53 x 15.
9mm and weighs 114g.
First impressions of the unit are good.
The phone is stylish and compact and as with the majority of Samsung designs it is evident that a lot of thought has gone into the overall look of the device.
The front of the phone looks very minimal with a 2.
6" screen dominating proceedings, situated beneath this screen are three fixed, slim buttons.
The 2.
6 inch TFT screen is of a touchscreen variety and displays a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels.
The screen incorporates Samsung's TouchWiz user interface which allows users to easily drag and drop widgets around the screen.
A physical qwerty keypad slides out from beneath the screen, useful for those who do use a lot of text messages.
When in use this keyboard does make using the B3410 feel much more like a laptop or pc experience.
Most messaging services are covered including MMS, EMail, Instant messaging and SMS.
The Samsung B3410 does boast quite a few multi media features.
The integrated music player handles the majority of audio file formats.
This is backed up by a built in FM radio tuner if you fancied tuning into local radio rather than listen to your own music.
The media player also supports the playback of MP4 video files.
Slightly disappointing is the 2 Megapixel camera, substantially less than the majority of phones available.
The camera is easy to use and adequate for day to day capturing of the moment, but that is about as far as it goes.
This does however back up the fact that the B3410 is intended to be a fun phone at the lower end of the cost spectrum, not one over laden with technology thus pushing the price up.
In terms of connectivity perhaps the most glaring omission from Samsung is the lack of 3G, HSDPA and broadband.
The inclusion of EDGE technology does mean that internet browsing on sites specifically designed for mobile web is fine.
Bluetooth 2.
1 is also included allowing easy transfer between compatible devices.
All in all the Samsung B3410 does exactly what it sets out to do.
The obvious appeal of this handset is its keypad which is a huge plus for those who like to message.
It is an affordable phone which although lacking in some areas, makes up for it with a good quality clear screen and a neat compact design.
