There are many allergies that people might have.
One that is becoming more popular is the shellfish allergy.
This is a type of food allergy that makes it impossible for people to eat lobster, shrimp, clams, and other types of shellfish and marine animals.
Some people have mild symptoms while others will experience anaphylactic shock - which means that their airways will close and they will stop breathing.
Symptoms When people eat any form of shellfish or a chemical that can also be found in shellfish - like iodine - they will have mild to severe symptoms.
The most common of these include; Itching Hives Eczema Swelling of tongue, throat, lips, and other parts of the body Stomach pain Diarrhea Vomiting Wheezing Trouble breathing Tingling in mouth Fainting Dizziness Causes If you think that you have this type food allergy you should speak with your doctor immediately.
This allergy is caused when the immune system is not functioning properly.
It views the chemicals that make up this food to be harmful to the body and will begin to produce and release antibodies which will actually work against our body.
The best way to treat shellfish allergy is to avoid it altogether.
Make sure that you stay away from any type of shellfish and that nothing you eat has been cooked with it.
Also make sure that the people around you know what to do if you do go into anaphylactic shock from eating it.
Some doctors will have you carry around special medicine to inject into yourself if this should happen.
