How to Clean Pet Hair From Carpet
- 1). Vacuum as much of the pet hair up as possible with your home vacuum. Purchase a vacuum that is designed for use in homes with pets. These vacuums often have more power to suck up even fine hair embedded deep in a carpet's fibers.
- 2). Mist the end of a sponge mop with water. Do not soak the sponge. The lightly wet sponge will attract the pet hair on the carpet.
- 3). Drag the mop across the surface of your carpet to collect the hair in one pile. You will notice the hair will begin to attach to the sponge or clump on the floor.
- 4). Pick the hair up by hand when you see it clumping, and repeat the process with the rest of the carpeting.
- 5). If there is still noticeable pet hair, mix 1 part fabric softener with 3 parts water.
- 6). Mist the entire carpet with the solution. Do not over wet the carpet.
- 7). Let the carpet dry completely. The fabric softener will soften the hair and make it easier to vacuum up.
- 8). Vacuum the floor to remove the rest of the pet hair.
