Rainy Days on the Beach

You wake up to another day at your beautiful beach resort and all is well with the world. A quick bite to eat and you are ready to head to the beach for your daily dose of sun - but just before you get there something tragic happens - the heavens open and the rain pours down. We've all had a few days on holiday when the weather has simply refused to cooperate - this is particularly hard to cope with when you are on the beach.

Though the rain pours down it is no excuse to write a day off- annual leave is far too precious and you need to make the absolute most of every single moment. It's also important to remember that you have travelled to the beach to relax, and you can do that rain or shine. So grab a book, find yourself a cosy chair and read away - great gripping, adventure novels are great for these days. If you get tired of reading just let nature take its course: close your eyes and drift off into a well-deserved rainy day nap.

If you are not a big reader you can find lots of other things to do. The cinema is a great option as many resort towns will have English language films and you should be able to find something you want to watch - once again, this should be a treat, after all when do you get to indulge in the luxury of watching a film during the day?

Rainy days are also a good opportunity to see some of the local cultural and historic sights. Many resorts are in interesting locations, especially those in the Mediterranean, so take the day as an opportunity to see some great things. Museums are always great in this respect, but you can also check out art galleries, historic sights and local markets. The weather just might motivate you to find some unique tourist attractions you might have missed entirely.

Sadly, the weather is not something we can control and you may well find that one of your days on the beach is rained out; in fact, you may be truly unlucky and lose more than a day to intemperate weather. It's important to make the best of this - after all, if you've travelled hundreds of miles on a holiday to the Balearic Islands you want to ensure you make the best of every moment. The key is to remember that your trip is about relaxation, something which you can achieve rain or shine.
