    • 1). Moisten a rag with warm water and gently scrub away any detergent that you can see on the floor. Spot cleaning can reduce the amount of mopping later.

    • 2). Mix a linoleum cleaning solution with water, according to the label instructions. Do not use more generic detergent to clean a floor with a detergent buildup. Your floor manufacturer also may sell a linoleum-cleaning product, and you also can purchase a linoleum cleaning solution at most flooring and hardware stores.

    • 3). Wet the mop with the water and cleaning solution, and then wring out the mop in the bucket. Like wood, linoleum is sensitive to water, so you only want to dampen the mop lightly with the water and cleaning solution.

    • 4). Mop the floor thoroughly until the detergent is gone.

    • 5). Rinse out the mop and remoisten it with clean water.

    • 6). Mop the floor with the clean, lightly-dampened mop.

    • 7). Allow the floor to air dry.
