Preston is a little town in southeast Connecticut that was founded in 1687. Like many New England towns, it first thrived on service industries, with a blacksmith shop and a clock maker. Today the town remains relatively undeveloped with just a few dairy farms, horse farms and greenhouses for vegetables. It's the perfect country retreat if you enjoy small fishing holes and leisurely berry picking. If you plan a trip to the area there are several hotels to choose from. - The Roseledge Bed and Breakfast was built in 1720 as a homestead and was established as a bed and breakfast in 1994. It offers three rooms that feature fireplaces, private baths and antique furnishings. Guests are treated to a country breakfast and the tea room offers refreshments throughout the day. Property amenities include a fire pit and candlelit gardens. The area is great for swimming, hiking and mountain biking. Rates started at $95 a night as of 2010.
