If you have a pet dog at home, you must have probably noticed some discomfort that dogs suffer such as severe itchiness of the skin, excessive licking, vomiting, loss of hair, loss of appetite, diarrhea and many, many more. Although some of these discomforts are less serious and harmful, however; they also need proper medication. They can get allergies too from the food that they eat. This is what we commonly call as dog food allergies. What are dog food allergies? These are the type of skin condition like redness, and itchiness of the skin of your dog which are principally caused by the food that your dog regularly eats. Dog food allergies are usual occurrence among dogs. It is highly encouraged that a proper medication should be given immediately to avoid further skin problems.

There are several of allergies that our dogs can acquire and one of those is allergy to food. Dogs are vulnerable and sensitive to what they eat. Unlike humans, the dogs are not aware if what they eat is no longer good to their health. Dog food allergies are such distressing sight especially when you see your dog excessively licking and scratching his skin. Dog's sensitivity to food can easily be taken from the beef, chicken, fish, shrimps, crabs, milk, eggs, horse meat, pork, grains, potatoes, soy products or even dietary additives. However, this does not mean that your dogs are not allowed to eat one of the mentioned foods to avoid food sensitivity. Your dog can still gobble on these kinds of food however; it should always be with moderation. Usually, your dog will develop sensitivity to food if your pet has been exposed to the same diet for almost 2 years Proper diet is highly recommended for dogs to avoid having dog's sensitivity to food.

There are helpful tips that you can easily do when dealing with dog food allergies. Remember that these frustrating food sensitivities are incredible uncomfortable to your dog, therefore; wait no longer time and immediately medicate dog food allergies.

1. Replace his food.
This is the best way to know if the itchiness of your dog is caused by dog food allergies. Substitute or change his meal and observe if your dog still continues to paw, lick and scratch his skin. It is also helpful if your dog eats lamb-based food since this type of food is know to be non- allergic.

2. Give a new type of food.
Usually, our dogs get used to eating the same meal and food for a longer time. This could also lead to allergic reaction to food. Try to introduce a new food slowly to your pet. Gradually change his entire meal. If you are anxious that your pet canine would lose appetite, them you can start off with small portion until such time that he gets used to eating the new food. Always check the food and the symptoms of sensitivities to food.

3. Consult the animal doctor.
If you have done a lot of ways to heal and medicate the dog food allergies and yet your dog still continues to scratch his skin, then it might be the time that you seek the assistance of your vet. The vets would usually perform some allergy test so they can provide you with the appropriate medicine for dog food allergies.
