How To Get A Troubled Relationship Back On Track

102 6
All relationships have their ups and downs. But when youre having way more downs than ups, then chances are youre in a pretty troubled relationship.

Now, if youre trying to get a troubled relationship back on track, then youll have to do a few things.

For starters, youll need to COMMUNICATE with your partner. That means cutting out all the BS and being direct and to the point. No need to walk on egg shells here. Also, dont let things like day-to-day life get in the way of fixing your relationship.

Now, there is one thing you need to realize. You are going to be putting in A LOT of energy and effort into your relationship during this troubled time. This is a requirement in order to fix it. After all, you cant fix it if neither of you are willing to try.

So in short order, that means youre going to be PROACTIVE in your relationship. You cant just be passive and react to things. That doesnt work. Its why youre in the situation youre in, right?

Now is the time to take the complete opposite approach and do everything you can to save your relationship.

This could mean going to see a therapist or counselor. In fact, this should be the VERY FIRST thing you do and make it a non-conditional thing. In other words, you and your significant other MUST go.

Ask around to find a counselor that is good and has a proven track record. Ask friends or even colleagues. Or, just go online and search someone out and make sure they have good reviews. Once you find one, get their contact info and call them to set an appointment.

You could also look for a support group that deals with relationship matters and giving you exercises and such that will help you patch things up real quick.

Or, you could even ask your counselor once you start seeing him or her to recommend a support group so that you are attacking the problem from every possible angle.

Also, one more thing before you go see the counselor, interview them. Get a feel for what theyre like and what kind of personality they have. Make sure you get a good vibe from them. Ask to see their diplomas or licenses from governing bodies to ensure that they are qualified to be giving you advice.

Now that youre going to counseling, its highly important that you both actually DO what the counselor suggests you do. That means communicating and being TOTALLY 100% honest with each other.

So this is going to require maturity on both your parts and not playing the blame game or the he said, she said game.

As you start practicing the exercises and communication activities your counselor gives you, youll find that you relationship strengthens and will build in trust, intimacy and passion.
Then, when you get to that point youll see that your relationship will have mostly ups and hardly any downs.
