Volleyball Summer Camp Scholarships
- Named in honor of Jenni Harmon, a former volleyball player killed in an automobile accident, the Jenni Harmon Memorial Scholarship gives tuition assistance to campers to attend the Pass Set Crush Volleyball Camp (passsetcrush.com). Held each summer in Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, the camp provides volleyball instruction to girls in grades seven through nine. The scholarship helps cover the cost of tuition for one week of camp to a camper with financial need. Interested campers should have their parents or volleyball coach contact the camp for a scholarship application.
- Open to volleyball players from across the country, the National Elite Volleyball Camp (nationalelitevolleyballcamp.com/) features high-quality instruction from Junior Olympic club coaches for girls in grades seven through 12. The five-day camp takes place in San Diego, California, and scholarships are available to cover the $250 camp fee. Scholarships go to campers with financial need; campers should contact the camp director to find out if they qualify. Scholarships cover only the camp fee and do not cover transportation costs.
- Gannon University (gannon.edu) in Erie, Pennsylvania, sponsors a number of sports, fine arts and educational summer camps including a girls volleyball camp for ages 7 through 13. The two-day camp provides basic volleyball instruction from the Gannon volleyball coach. Two scholarships are available from the Gannon Alliances to Improve Neighborhood Sustainability project to help cover camp costs. The scholarships are open to girls from certain Erie neighborhoods and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Scholarship applications must be turned in before the camper may register for camp.
- Open to members of the Texas Tornados Volleyball Club (texastornados.org), the Emily Strickland Scholarship Fund awards scholarship money that can be used for club costs or summer camp costs. The Texas Tornados sponsor 13 summer camps for boys and girls in middle school through high school that address various skill levels. Applicants for the Emily Strickland Scholarship Fund must be a Tornados club member, be willing to participate in a breast cancer fund-raising event and write a one-page essay describing why they deserve the scholarship. Scholarship applications can be found online through the Texas Tornados website.
