How to Reuse Plastic Drinking Bottles

    • 1). Rinse out a used drinking bottle and refill it to use again. This can be done immediately after you empty the bottle, but it's a better idea to wash the bottle, just as you would any other cup, before additional use.

    • 2). Refill the bottle with water and put it in the freezer to create ice packs. You can use them for cooler storage at a picnic or tailgating event or even as an ice pack in the event of an injury.

    • 3). Use refilled bottles as emergency water supplies. Keep them in a safe area, such as your garage.

    • 4). Use the bottles as a watering can. Add plant food to the water and shake the closed bottle. Be sure to label the bottle if additives are mixed with the water to prevent human or animal consumption.

    • 5). Use the bottle as a drinking supply for pets on long trips or walks. Most animals can drink out of a water bottle if it is poured directly into their mouths. If not, bring along a bowl, just in case.

    • 6). Cut a used bottle in half and use the bottom as a eco-friendly planter.

    • 7). Store nails or other small items in a used water bottle. The clear container should make finding the items easier. Be sure to label the bottles in case several types of the same item are placed together.
