How to Repair the Moen 87000 Faucet
- 1). Turn off the water to the sink by closing the valves underneath the sink.
- 2). Remove the cap on the leaking handle by prying it up with a screwdriver. Loosen the screw right under the cap with an Allen wrench and slide the handle off the faucet base.
- 3). Loosen the retaining nut (also called the cartridge nut) located at the base of the cartridge, where the handle used to be. Slide the cartridge out after this nut is removed.
- 4). Replace the cartridge with another matching part and tighten the cartridge nut to secure it in place. The cartridge must be resting on top of the escutcheon, another flat washer on the base of the faucet.
- 5). Replace the handle and adjust it so the handle faces out as it did before. Insert and tighten the Allen screw with the Allen wrench to secure the handle.
