The Piper Arrow is considered by many pilots nowadays as one of the best flight trainers. There many other aircraft models that lay claim to the title of being the best plane for flight instruction, but for those who have actually tried flying the Arrow, they would certainly admit that this should be common feature in any flight school. The main reason why even the experts in aviation believe that the Arrow is an outstanding flight trainer is that the plane is very maneuverable. Aside from this, its avionics is relatively more advanced than the usual single prop aircrafts that very common in flight training schools.

It is actually in the avionics that the Arrow has a huge edge over the others. The plane is equipped with the Avidyne Entegra Avionics Suite, which is recognized as one of the most expensive in the industry. At USD 399,000, the avionics system clearly takes big percentage of the plane's overall worth. However, despite the cost, pilots still recommend that this aircraft be bought. After all, it is not just the price that makes its avionics remarkable but its actual capabilities. The Arrow may not be similar to an advanced jet, but because of its avionics, it is just as good when it comes to aircraft controls, navigation, and safety.

The Piper Arrow has a cruise speed of 137 ktas or 254 km/hr. This speed is already notable, considering that this is just a single engine aircraft. Behind this speed capability though is the fact that its engine is a Lycoming IO-360-C1C6. The engine is actually one of the products of Lycoming's latest innovation, the result of the manufacturer's constant effort to improve its engines. This Lycoming engine can produce up to 200 hp, which only explains why the Arrow can achieve that high cruise speed while its rivals in the same category can only muster 100 ktas at the average.

While the Arrow is recommended often as a flight trainer, its cabin size and load capacity certainly suggests that it can serve more purposes. The arrow has a cabin with seats that can accommodate four people. This means that it is large enough to ferry a handful of passengers. Not surprisingly, the plane is often used for flight tours. In fact, there are countries where it is being used the military for aerial surveillance. The standard useful load of the aircraft is 960 lbs., which is also slightly higher than that of its counterparts.

With all the characteristics mentioned here, it is clear that the Arrow is one plane that is worth buying. It is not just the flight training institutions that should buy this though. Flight charter companies can certainly include this in their fleet.
