  Choosing a gift for twins takes a little extra thought. Although twins have the same birthday and sometimes look exactly alike, they are different people. Some twins prefer a gift that they can share or two gifts that go together. Other twins prefer to celebrate their individuality.
  
  

Art

• Give the twins art supplies so they can make art projects together. For example, give each twin her own child-sized easel for painting pictures. Include large pads of paper that clip onto the easels. You can also give each girl a set of waterproof paints and brushes. If they are a bit young for paint, give them large crayons instead. This way the twins can draw or paint at the same time without having to take turns or share their gift.
  
  

Sports

• Twins who love sports always have someone to play with. Give them gifts that they can play with together. For example, give them each a baseball glove along with a few baseballs and a bat to share. Or choose a basketball hoop for their yard or driveway and two basketballs. Tennis rackets and balls or soccer balls are other good ideas.
  
  

Chairs

• Do the twins share a room? If so, they likely share many things, such as toys, a dresser and maybe even a bed. Give each twin something personalized for their bedroom. For example, purchase two child-sized rocking chairs. You can find these already painted and finished, or you can go with unfinished chairs. Paint the chairs in the twins' favorite colors. Then paint each child's name on his chair.
  
  

Separate

• While some twins love sharing gifts or receiving gifts that go together, other twins may see themselves as a bit more separate from each other. It's perfectly fine to give the twins completely different gifts. Maybe one twin is into music. Buy him an mp3 player or a T-shirt depicting a popular singer or musical group. The other twin might love dressing up. Go with some costumes or a trunk full of dress-up clothes. Even though these gifts do not go together, they will make the twins happy.
