How Do I Troubleshoot a GP2X TV Out Problem?

    • 1). Tune the TV to the correct input in order to receive a signal from the GP2X. The most common cause for a lack of picture in this situation is that the TV is simply not set to the correct input. Locate the input selection control on the TV's remote or on the TV itself--probably labeled "input" or "source"--and press it repeatedly until the TV displays the S-video input into which the GP2X is plugged. Check again for picture.

    • 2). Unplug the S-video cable that attaches the GP2X to the TV and check the end of the connector for any dust or damage. Assuming it looks okay, plug the S-video cable back in firmly and repeat the procedure with the other end of the cable. Once again, check the TV for any picture.

    • 3). Purchase a new S-video cable and plug it in in place of the previous cable. One of the most common causes of this particular issue is an S-video cable that has simply gone bad. If the new cable now gives a picture, just continue to use it in place of the old cable. If there is still no picture, the GPX2 may be having an issue either with its S-video port or the software that controls the "TV Out" function. The TV's S-video port could also be at fault, and you can test this by plugging a different S-video connected device like a DVD player into the same port on the TV and checking for picture.
