How to Install a Wire in a Bathroom Fan
- 1). Remove the screws connecting the blower motor to the fan housing and unplug the motor from the receptacle inside the housing. Carefully take the motor out of the housing.
- 2). Unscrew the receptacle so you can access its wiring.
- 3). Slide the electrical cable from your home's main electrical box through the cable connector on the side of the fan housing. Pull about 6 inches of cable through, then tighten the screw on the cable connector to lock the cable in place.
- 4). Wrap the bare copper wire leading from the electrical box around the green ground screw in the fan housing and tighten it.
- 5). Connect the white wire leading from the electrical box to the white wire in the receptacle by twisting them together with a plastic connector cap.
- 6). Connect the black wire leading from the electrical box to the black wire in the receptacle by twisting them together with a plastic connector cap.
- 7). Screw the receptacle back into position.
- 8). Plug the fan back into the receptacle and screw the fan back onto the housing.
