    • 1). Lay the ice auger down on a flat sturdy surface. Pull the spark plug wire off to prevent accidental shocks or starts. Put leather gloves on to protect your hands from new sharp blades.

    • 2). Place an adjustable wrench on the nut in the blade guard. Place a second adjustable wrench on the bolt in the other side of the nut. Hold the bolt steady and turn the nut to loosen and remove it. Pull the bolt straight out of the blade guard. Repeat this process to remove the second bolt and nut and pull the blade guard straight off.

    • 3). Place one wrench on a nut holding a blade in place. Place a second wrench on the bolt in the other side of the blade. Turn the nut counterclockwise to loosen it. Pull the bolt straight out of the blade. Repeat this procedure to remove the second bolt and pull the blade off the auger end. Remove the second blade in the same manner.

    • 4). Place a new blade on the auger with the printing facing outward and aligning the boltholes. The flat side of the blade is the top. Insert the two bolts and secure hand tight with the nuts. Place a wrench on the nut and bolt, and tighten the nut completely in a clockwise direction. Repeat this step to tighten the second nut and bolt and the second blade.

    • 5). Place the blade guard on the auger aligning the boltholes. Insert and tighten each nut and bolt with two wrenches in the same manner as the blades.

    • 6). Press the spark plug wire onto the spark plug firmly.
