Things to Do for a Family Reunion

    Camping

    • Organize a camping trip. Select a campground that is centrally located, so everyone drives a similar distance, or choose a destination with nearby entertainment options. Invite family members to camp in tents or campers. Consider renting cabins, if they are available. Plan typical camping activities such as hikes and bonfires. Add sightseeing to get away from the campground.

    Potluck

    • Plan a family reunion potluck. Select a family member's home that will accommodate everyone. Or move the potluck to a park or rented hall, if the guest list is long. Provide a main dish, such as grilled hamburgers or barbecued meats. Determine if you will provide plates, cups, drinks and silverware, or if each family will be responsible for these items. Plan games, crafts or other activities to keep people entertained.

    Sports Outing

    • Plan a sports-themed outing for an active family reunion. Determine the interests of the family reunion guests when selecting the outing. Choose between a passive sports activity, such as watching a baseball game, or a hands-on sports outing, such as a round of golf or a sand volleyball tournament. Select a sports event that all guests can enjoy, including the youngest and oldest. Organize a meal before or after the sporting event to allow for conversation time.

    Amusement Park

    • Gather the family members at an amusement park or other recreational location. Check with the venue to determine if a shelter or other area is available for a family lunch. The amusement park provides the entertainment, while a common lunch spot allows family members to catch up. Consider staying in a hotel near the amusement park so family members have more time to connect.
