Instead of subjecting yourself to a huge field of regular Stockinette Stitch, add a Crossed Stockinette Block to your sampler blanket or afghan. Just knitting through the back loop makes this block a little more interesting to knit and a lot more interesting to look at than the plain Jane Stockinette.
