Do You Plan on Selling Your Soap in Canada?
Are you a soap maker wanting to sell your soaps? Well, I'm the girl that will give you answers to questions many are still asking today.
I will give you highly recommended resources that I have tried or again tried by people I know, like and trust.
An important part of your soap making business are business cards.
You want to let the world know who you are and what you are making and selling.
You never want to leave a customer wondering who you were.
This can be a huge loss of profit just because you didn't have your business on a card to offer them.
On your business card make sure you put your name, your address, phone number and website and email address if you have one.
I personally recommend using VistaPrint.
ca.
Their work is #1 and the service is even better.
When making your recipes, buying books is an excellent way to get started.
A very good store for soap making books is Chapters.
Now though, I find that it is much easier to just use a soap calculator you can plug in numbers and it will calculate for you the correct portions of oils/lye/water.
Go to soapcalc.
net - the calculator was so helpful for me when I ran out of a certain oil and had to change and increase with the oils I had left.
Another great resource is Facebook.
While on Facebook, type in words like soapmakers or soap or Canadian soap or soaping USA etc.
to get a group that is relevant to you.
You can even type in goat's milk soap or vegetable soaps.
I am sure you get the idea.
Amazon is full of books that offer you tons of quality soap makers.
They give you their own recipes that they have already tried and used successfully.
My only recommendation is the year of the book: some of the older book instructions are too complicated compared to more recent books.
Getting back to selling your soap, I know that an important part of wanting to sell your soaps is a business card.
You need to make sure everyone you come in contact with has your card.
The packaging is important as well.
For now though, create yourself a name and buy your cards.
Start off with 250 cards just in case you realize afterward you would have done the card differently.
Once I was confident that I was pleased with an email address on my card so I ordered 1000.
Big mistake, I changed providers so the email address died but it was on all my cards.
So now I need to change them manually but it doesn't look as professional.
So learn from my suggestions and errors.
I'm still learning as well.
Please visit my site to view my soaps, and if it turns out you love home made soap and you decide making it isn't for you, I'd be happy to sell you my soaps.
Next article will be about suppliers I recommend Canadian and American.
Till then, keep soaping.
