What Vehicles Get GT40 Heads?
- The Ford Explorer has four main trim levels: Limited, Eddie Bauer, XLT and XLS. The standard features and luxury provisions of the Ford Explorer improve as you move up the trim levels. Its engine has a GT40 head that comes with a 210-horsepower 4.0-liter V-6 or a 4.6-liter V-8 engine. With these engines you can choose between a two- or four-wheel-drive transmission.
- The Ford Lightning was a model of pickup that underwent several transformations through its generations. Despite those changes, the GT 40 head was still always used in the engine of this vehicle. The first generation was from 1993 to 1995. The second generation went from 1999 to 2004. The third-generation of Ford Lightnings went from 2005 to 2010.
- Mustang Cobras were on the market from 1993 through 1995, and have high-flow 351 intakes. This allows them to bolt directly onto GT40 heads. The Mustang Cobras are available in many versions, among them the coupe and convertible. Cobra Mustangs improved yearly over the three years mentioned. Changes were in the engine sets and the appearance of the car. The car gained weight to prevent it from over turning due to the high horsepower of the engine.
- Any car that uses the 351 Windsor engine can use the GT 40 head. Since its introduction in 1969, the 351 Windsor engine has been modified to increase its performances. For instance, the number of barrels in the engine increased to four, from its original two barrels. This engine has been in Mustangs and in Ford cars. Full-sized cars have the Windsor 351.
