Fun & Simple Wedding Ceremony Ideas
- Traditionally, the bride and groom turn their backs to the audience while the officiant (clergyperson or judge) faces the wedding guests. Change this tradition into something memorable and different by reversing the roles. Once the bride and groom both make it to the altar, have them face the audience while the officiant stands with his back to the guests. This allows those who have come to see the big day witness the sparkle in your eyes and the smile on your face.
- Instead of a unity candle, consider creating a unity sand bottle. Before the wedding, the bride and the groom choose a vessel they both like and two colors of sand. During the ceremony, the bride has one color of sand in a bottle and the groom has the other color in a separate bottle. The bride pours a small amount of her sand into the vessel, then the groom, continuing until both have used all their sand.
- Why have only one happy, single lady catch the flowers at the bouquet throwing? Instead, consider inconspicuously bundling several posies, or mini bouquets, into a normal-sized bunch for the bridal bouquet. Then, when the time comes to throw the bouquet, the bride slyly unbundles the bridal bouquet and treats the ladies to several posies. Enjoy the surprise on the ladies' faces when more than one of them get to experience the joy of catching the bouquet.
- Many couples opt to have a wedding guestbook for those attending the wedding to sign. For a simple alternative to this tradition, consider having a guest wedding journal. Pass it around before the ceremony and afterward, having each of the guests write their name and a small memory about the bride, groom or both. This provides an easy memento from the big day and will be enjoyable to read in the future.
