How to Prune Blue Cloud Sage Plants
- 1). Cut back the branches with pruning shears or hedge trimmers, depending on the width of the branch, until you have a short stub that is only six inches above the ground. This is to be done in late fall or early spring.
- 2). Cut off the buds or blooms that are the smallest, weakest and of least color. Leave only the most promising buds, one which had lush green colored stems and are the largest on the plant.
- 3). Slice off any twigs or blooms that are beginning to wilt or discolor. This usually begins to happen in late summer, though you should watch over the plant constantly to remove these immediately.
