How to Clean the Lava Lamp Oil Out of a Carpet
- 1). Blot the lava lamp oil with paper towels until the carpet is as dry as possible. Do not rub the oil around; just press a paper towel gently over the oil, discard when it's saturated, and repeat.
- 2). Spray or blot the oil with dry-cleaning fluid on a sponge, working from the outside of the stain in. Soak up the fluid with paper towels.
- 3). Pour a few drops of grease-cutting dish soap on a damp sponge and work in into the carpet if the stain persists. If the carpet has a long nap, use a nylon-bristled scrub brush. Spray lightly with plain water to rinse, then blot with paper towels again.
- 4). Allow the carpet to dry overnight, then check the area. You may need to repeat the steps over a few days to remove all of the lava lamp oil.
