    Invitations

    • Making your own snowmen invitations saves on the party budget and results in a custom look. Cut out circles from white paper in progressively larger sizes. You'll need three circles for each snowman. Glue the circles onto a piece of blue paper to create the snowman. Add in the details on the snowman. If you want a sparkling invitation, spread a layer of glitter over the snowman's body. Write the party details around the snowman or on the back side of the invitation.

    Decorations

    • The decorations create the look of a snowy landscape inside. Cut long strips of white paper to look like snow banks to place on the walls around the room. Add snowmen cut from paper on the walls. For centerpieces, Foam balls in three different sizes work well to create a 3-D snowman. Cut a small slice off the bottom of the largest ball so it rests flat on the table. Hot glue the balls together to assemble the snowman. Buttons or pieces of felt work well to create the snowman's details. Artificial snow adds to the table decor.

    Cake

    • A homemade snowman cake is simple to decorate. You'll need three round cake pans in three different sizes to create the snowman. Bake and cool the cakes according to the recipe you choose. Arrange the cakes on a cake board to create a snowman. A layer of white frosting creates the snowy look. Candy or fondant allows you to create edible details on the snowman.

Another option is to decorate cupcakes with a snowman on top. Frost the cupcakes to create a base coat. Two jumbo marshmallows stacked with a dab of frosting in between makes a simple snowman. Use pretzel sticks for the arms and chocolate frosting to add the details.

    Activities

    • If the weather cooperates, take the party guests outside to have a snowman contest. Kids can work individually or in groups to make a snowman. Award prizes for most creative, smallest, largest and other categories. Bring along a few sleds if you have a nearby hill safe for sledding.

If you prefer indoor activities, let the kids make and decorate snowmen made from white paper. You can still award prizes for the snowmen. For an edible snack, use snowball-shaped snack cakes covered in coconut to make edible snowmen. Provide the kids with candy to decorate their snowballs to create a snowman.

    Favors

    • Outdoor snow gear ties into the theme for a fitting party favor. Buy each child an inexpensive snow brick mold or similar snow toy. Fill the mold with candy or other small treats. For a homemade treat, make edible snowmen heads from white chocolate. Melt white candy wafers according to the package directions. Blow up a small, round balloon for each snowman head. A water balloon works well because its small and rounder than regular balloons. Spread a small amount of shortening on the balloon so it doesn't stick to the chocolate. Place a small dab of melted chocolate on a piece of parchment paper. Dip the balloon into the melted chocolate so it is covered in a thick layer. You want to leave an opening at the top of the snowman's head, so don't completely cover the balloon. With melted black and orange chocolate, make a face on the snowman. Place the balloon on the dab of chocolate on the paper and allow it to dry. Placing the chocolate in the freezer hardens it quickly. Pop the balloon and remove all of the pieces. Fill the snowman with candies and place the entire thing inside of a cellophane bag.
