It's a perfect time to overseed your fescue Lawn.
Follow the steps below for great results.
1.
Measure the area to be overseeded to determine how much seed to purchase.
2.
Mow your lawn to a height of 1.
5 inches and remove the clippings.
3.
Choose a quality grass such as garden-n-wise premium fescue blend.
Inexpensive seed is no bargain; it often contains weed and other crop seeds that are difficult or impossible to remove once established.
4.
Seed should be incorporated into the soil for good germination.
The best way to accomplish this is by renting a verticut machine.
It cuts shallow grooves in your lawn to create a bed for the new seed.
Mark all your sprinkler heads to avoid damage from the verticutter.
5.
Go over your lawn in at least two directions with the verticutter.
Then use a broadcast spreader to distribute the grass seed.
6.
Apply fertilizer new lawn starter and soil activator to increase soil fertility.
7.
Keep the seed moist until the grass is established.
This is best done with frequent short waterings.
If new seed is allowed to dry out it will die.
8.
After the new seed has been up for 30 days, fertilize with a winterizer.
This process will give you lush yard in the spring you can be proud of.
Using this procedure and following up with a planned watering and fertilizing program will keep your lawn in tip top shape.
Follow up with a lawn decor package, using statues, water falls, water fountains, gazing balls and well placed trees and shrubs.
