How to Pan-Fry Steak
- 1). Pour 2 tbsp. olive oil into a frying pan. Spread the oil over the pan's interior with a paper towel before placing it over medium-high heat on a stove top. Allow the pan to pre-heat for five minutes.
- 2). Rub both sides of the steak with a mixture of 1 tsp. salt and 1 tbsp. ground black pepper, or 1 1/2-tbsp. of your favorite steak seasoning.
- 3). Place the steak into the pre-heated pan. If the steak is 1-inch thick, allow it to cook for five minutes. Add two minutes of cooking time for every additional half inch of thickness. For example, if your steak is 1 1/2-inches thick, pan-fry it for seven minutes.
- 4). Turn the steak over after the determined cooking time is up. Allow the steak to cook for an equal amount of time on the other side.
- 5). Remove the steak from the pan immediately and serve while hot. The steak should have a crispy, brown exterior on either side.
