    • The Mayo Clinic recommends that individuals taking Cymbalta consult a doctor before they stop taking it. Some doctors may recommend that the dosage of Cymbalta by lowered gradually before discontinuing the medication altogether.

    Withdrawal Sensations

    • Some people who discontinue the use of Cymbalta may experience paresthesia. Paresthesia is a prickling or burning feeling that may be felt any where on the body. Some of these sensations may feel like mild electric shocks in the head area. These head-related sensations may be referred to as "brain zaps."

    Gastrointestinal Symptoms

    • The discontinuation of Cymbalta may lead to stomach irritation. Some individuals may experience nausea only while others may have vomiting and diarrhea episodes.

    Mood Changes

    • Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms may affect the mood. Often, individuals feel more irritable than normal. They also may notice increased symptoms of depression and anxiety.

    Other Withdrawal Symptoms

    • Other symptoms associated with Cymbalta withdrawal include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, hyperhidrosis and vertigo. Hyperhidrosis is the term for excessive sweating. Some individuals may have an increased frequency of nightmares as well.
