    Networks

    • The LG Encore connects to 2G networks, which were designed to handle text and voice data, and 3G networks, designed to handle graphic-rich content such as picture texts and Internet content. By default, sending or receiving a picture message, or picture text, occurs using the faster 3G networks, unless the phone's 3G network feature is disabled. In this situation, the message is sent over a 2G network, and will take longer to deliver or receive.

    Picture and Video Viewer

    • Picture and video messages received on the Encore are viewed using the phone's media player, which supports a variety of video and picture formats, such as H.264 and JPEG. By using the phone's built-in 3.2-megapixel camera, which takes pictures at up to 2,048-by-1,536 pixels of resolution, you can capture images or videos. You can also send them as a picture or video text to any 10-digit wireless phone number or as an attachment to an email account.

    Storing Picture Texts

    • If you store a large number of the picture texts received on the Encore, the phone's memory will eventually run out. You can add memory, which translates into more room for pictures and picture texts, by using the phone's microSD card slot for up to 8GB of expanded memory. You can also delete received picture texts, which will free up memory. If you don't want to delete picture texts, you can forward them to an email account for safekeeping, using the phone's mobile email application, which requires connection to a Post Office Protocol or Internet Message Access Protocol server.

    Memory Specifics

    • With 32MB of on-board memory, adding storage to the LG Encore is more an eventuality than a possibility, especially if you store a lot of pictures. The Encore supports microSD cards, which offer up to 2GB of memory, and high-capacity microSD (microSDHC) cards, which provide between 2GB and 32GB of memory, up to the phone's 8GB limit. Installing the maximum amount of memory will provide you with enough room to store thousands of pictures, whether taken by the Encore's camera or received as a picture text.
