The Best Way to Kill Vines
- 1). Dilute one part water and one part herbicide containing glyphosate in a spray bottle. Place a piece of plastic or tarp underneath the vine to capture any drop of herbicide.
- 2). Spray vines growing away from any other vegetation with the herbicide. Thoroughly apply the spray to the foliage, but not enough to cause dripping. Reapply in 10 days if the vine hasn't died. Signs that indicate that a vine is dying include wilting, foliage discoloration and defoliation.
- 3). Cut vines growing near other vines, plants or trees 4 feet from the ground. Make a second cut 1 foot from the ground if the stem attached to the ground doesn't fall to the ground.
- 4). Dip a small paintbrush into an herbicide that contains glyphosate. Apply the herbicide to the cut end of the stem that is still growing from the ground.
