Ways to Fold Cloth Napkins

    Double Roll

    • This is more of a roll than a fold, but the results are still the same--stylish napkins that look impressive at each place setting on your table.

Lay your napkin out flat and iron it with spray starch.

Folding each end equally, fold the top and bottom of the napkin to meet in the middle. Lay the folded napkin vertically. Beginning at one of the short edges, roll half of the napkin to the center. Repeat this with the other end of the napkin so that both rolls meet in the middle. This looks even more elegant when a pair of chopsticks are laid over the top of the double rolled napkin.

    Envelope

    • Napkins folded like envelopes are relatively quick and easy to create. Start by starching and ironing your napkin. Fold the napkin in half, and make sure the open end is furthest away from you. On the right side of the napkin, turn in both corner edges, the way you might fold wrapping paper on a package. This will create a pointed end. Fold the left side of your napkin in half to meet the bottom of where the two corners meet. Fold the point over the rectangle and you will see that your napkin has become an envelope.

    Pocket

    • The napkin pocket is probably the easiest of all the creative napkin folds you can learn. As with the other folds, start by starching and ironing your napkin. Fold your napkin in half, with the open end facing you. Now fold the napkin into quarters. Turn the napkin so that the open corner is away from you and on the upper left hand side of the napkin. Fold the very top layer of the corner in half diagonally.

Next, turn the entire folded napkin upside down. Make sure the open corner is facing away from you and on the right hand side. Fold the right side corner back toward the center of the napkin about 1/3 of the way. Fold the left side back 1/3 of the way as well.

Now carefully turn the entire folded napkin back over and you will plainly see the pocket you've created with your folding techniques. Slip the silverware into the pocket and set your table.
