How to Clean a Smooth Cooktop on a Range
- 1). Wet a soft washcloth under a stream of lukewarm water. Add a few drops of dish soap to the wet rag and wring the rag out. The rag should be moist, but not saturated. Wait for the stove's surface to cool.
- 2). Wipe the surface with the wet, soapy rag. Remove all debris such as food, ash and dust.
- 3). Wet another clean, soft cloth under a stream of cold water. Wring the cloth out and use it to rinse away the soapy cleanser on the cooktop.
- 4). Buff the surface dry with a dry, clean, soft cloth.
- 5). Sprinkle baking soda on the cooktop and use a wet sponge to scrub at the grime. If the stain is stubborn, leave moistened baking soda on the grime and sit a damp paper towel on top of it for about 30 minutes. Wipe the grime and rinse the stovetop with a wet sponge.
- 6). Scrape burned-on residue with a razor blade if it cannot be scrubbed off with baking soda or soap. Hold the blade at a 30-degree angle and carefully scrape the residue. Use caution to not damage your stove. When the residue comes free, clean the stove as normal.
