Definition:

Medicines that prevent and control nausea and vomiting. Examples are ondansetron (Zofran) and prochlorperazine (pro-klor-PEH-ruh-zeen) (Compazine). Antiemetics can be used to treat motion sickness, and the nausea or vomiting associated with opioid analgesics, general anaesthetics and chemotherapy.
