Black Mold on the Lawn
- Slime mold is an organism that develops on lawns and can be gelatinous in nature. It turns the lawn a black color when it is infected.
- This type of lawn disease may appear black, but it also can appear as a white or yellow/white substance on the grass. After being on the lawn for a few days it will start to become a powdery substance.
- Usually black mold is caused by lengthy periods of rain. Also, high humidity levels can cause the lawn to become a breeding ground for the disease.
- If you walk on the infected area of the lawn, the mold can attach to your shoes and clothing. However, it will simply wipe off with no ill effects.
- The disease will die out on its own and disappear from the lawn altogether. However, you can aerate the lawn or use a fungicide to help get rid of it.
