Recovering Deleted Pictures From Digital Cameras
When a digital camera takes a shot, it needs to convert the raw image data from the sensor, into a standardized file format for storage on a memory card.
That can lead to errors.
The most common digital image formats are jpeg, tiff, and raw.
Most photographers choose to shoot in jpeg, because this file format offers a very good exchange between file size and image quality with variety of options in compression.
Even RAW photos offer the highest possible image quality, but have greater requirements in file size and some degree of formatting, even though they are popular and are treated as digital negatives.
The most common reasons for the damage of photo files are the accidental deletion of a photo or accidental formatting of an entire memory card, which holds the photo files.
Other reasons are memory card or hard drive error and file transfer or an interface error.
What ever the reason might be, recovering deleted pictures or the recovery of photos can be accomplished.
In fact, you may be able to recover some or almost all the lost or deleted images, if they are still intact and left without overwriting.
This is the key.
It is the general belief that once a photo has been deleted, that they are permanently wiped off, which is wrong.
You will be able to recover pics since the digital images are stored on memory cards as a file.
These files occupy a fixed space on memory cards.
Some time it is not necessary that they would be stored in a contiguous fashion.
When you delete an image or format the card, the space in which the image was stored is not essentially erased.
Instead, the space is marked as available, so that the system knows it can write a new image there.
This is why the image will no longer be recognized by the camera or computer, even though the image is still present on the card.
Recovering deleted pictures will not be an issue if you remove the memory card from your camera and place it in a safe place so that you will not continue taking pictures.
The recovery of photos will not be necessary if you stop saving the pictures on that can and begin saving them on another card.
If you do not do so, then chances are that the deleted files might be overwritten by the new images and further rendering them unrecoverable.
There are several tools you can simply download and install for recovering deleted pictures.
Not all are easy to use, but they are mostly affordable.
Normally less than 60 bucks.
I am not going to mention but one of them that I have personally tested.
It is called DeleteFIX Photo and performs the digital photo recovery in seconds and easily in your own hard drive.
You just connect the camera to your PC and run the program.
The screens will tell you what to do.
Basically click next a few times while the software performs the recovery of your photos.
