June 13, 2008 - Amanda Peet has signed on to the cast of 2012, writer/director Roland Emmerich's latest addition to his long line of big-budget action epics. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peet will play John Cusack's ex-wife in the apocalyptic thriller.

Emmerich's 2012 finds a global catatrosphe threatening to end life on earth. Emmerich co-wrote the screenplay with Harald Kloser, a composer whose first screenwriting credit came on Emmerich's 10,000 BC.

Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, and Oliver Platt have also committed to the project. Emmerich's targeting a July start date, if an actors strike doesn't shut down Hollywood.
