How to Kill Mice in the Garden

    • 1). Place a rodent bait station in your garden. Rodent bait stations contain poison that kills the mice upon ingestion. Place the station in bushes, behind ornamental grasses or plants or along the garden walls. Bait stations are typically effective because they provide both shelter and food for mice. If you are concerned about the unsightliness of the station, purchase one that is disguised as a fake rock.

    • 2). Spread bait blocks throughout your garden. Blocks contain poison but do not provide shelter for the mice. Blocks are often smaller than bait stations and therefore, easier to hide.

    • 3). Place an electronic mouse killer in your garden. These devices typically lure the mouse inside, then administer an electrical charge to stop the heart. Electronic mouse killers are perhaps the most humane way in which to kill a mouse, as death happens very fast, unlike poisons which typically cause several days of suffering. Properly cover the device to protect it from rain.

    • 4). Place small pieces of mouse poison around your garden. Only use this method if there isn't a chance of other animals eating the bait, such as squirrels or cats, as it can kill them, as well.

    • 5). Place glue traps around the garden. Glue traps are designed to grab the mouse when it steps on the sticky substance. However, this method is considered inhumane by some groups, because it causes a mouse to become covered in glue as it tries to remove itself, and ultimately die of suffocation.
