How to Leave Freelance Work to Accept Other Work
- 1). Develop an action plan for tapering off work for existing freelance clients by setting final project completion dates and, where possible, referring them to colleagues who may be able to provide them with the same type of work.
- 2). Create a resume or a curriculum vitae that details past work history, as well as freelance projects. Emphasize the skills you have attained from freelancing, such as self-motivation, the ability to successfully juggle multiple projects, the ability to act independently with no supervision, and your attention to details and deadlines.
- 3). Ask for testimonials from satisfied freelance clients that detail your work ethic, reliability and customer service skills, and attach them to your resume.
- 4). Ask clients you currently freelance for if permanent positions are open, or are soon to open in their company. If there are, ask for a recommendation or a personal introduction to the person in charge of making hiring decisions.
- 5). Use industry contacts you already have to inquire about available full-time, permanent positions in your field.
- 6). Participate in industry associations and networking groups, and ask for colleagues to spread the word that you're looking for full-time employment.
- 7). Use social marketing sites to announce you're interested in a permanent, traditional corporate position. Encourage contacts to forward your resume to anyone they think might be interested in hiring you.
