So you have made the commitment to better your health and fitness, and now begins the search to find a good local gym in your town to help you build and design that body you have always wanted and deserved! Here are 10 tips and recommendations to finding a gym that you will want to screen any gym through before parting with your well earned money.

Location; How close and how convenient is the gym to your place and/or your work.
If its on or close to your daily commute this will make it more convenient for you and save you time.
Also are they a national franchise? 2.
Cost; Shop around for the best deals, and depending on your goals whether its for the long term or short term.
Remember to check out when gyms run special promotions in late summer or around the new year.

Hours; What hours are they open? Do you prefer to train early in the morning or later in the evenings after work.
Also check holiday hours as this is a great time to exercise for many people.

Equipment; Does the gym have good quality equipment for what you want to use, for example lots of free weights, bench racks, squat racks, machines and so forth.
And in there peak hours do they have enough facilities? 5.
Members; What are the predominant type of members at the gym? some ladies may prefer to go to a ladies only gym, whereas guys generally like unisex gyms.
Are there mainly older people or a mix of ages coming through.

Additional Benefits; Like daycare, massage therapy, physiotherapy, nutritional services and so forth, and are there if any extra fees.

Personal Training Services; Do they have certified personal trainers on staff? it would pay to check there qualifications beforehand.

Group Fitness Classes; Check if they have group fitness classes and what types? And is there any extra cost or is this included in your membership? 9.
Cleanliness; Check that both in the gym, bathrooms and showers are up to your standard.

Cancellation Policy; Check there policy regards this, some gyms may partially refund you or have your membership transferred.
For example if you are transferred out of town or state due to your job.
Some may not.
