Features of the PSP 2000 System
- The PlayStation Portable, or PSP, is a portable gaming device that also has multimedia capabilities such as audio and video playback. The PSP 2000, also referred to as the PSP Slim or PSP Lite, was the first redesign of the original PSP. It is 33 percent smaller than the original PSP, but includes all of its features.
- The PSP can play games off of Universal Media Discs or directly off a memory card. All gaming genres are covered in the PSP library, ranging from racing to first-person shooters. PS2 gamers will recognize a lot of the games on the PSP, such as "Ratchet and Clank," "Metal Gear" and "Tekken." Select games can be played wirelessly via Wi-Fi -- referred to as Ad Hoc in PSP lingo -- or over the Internet using the PlayStation Network.
- The 4.3-inch widescreen LCD makes the PSP 2000 an ideal device for accessing your media on the go. The PSP supports a variety of commonly used media formats, including MP3, AVI and JPEG. This hand-held console lets you play high-definition movies off of UMDs or a memory card. You can also arrange photos in galleries, present them in slide shows and transfer them to friends via Wi-Fi. Listen to music and Internet radio through the PSP's speakers or by connecting headphones to the device.
- Once you've connected the PSP 2000 to a wireless Internet network, you will have access to a free Flash-capable web browser, game demos, TV shows and movie trailers. Regular firmware updates for the device can fix commonly encountered problems and introduce new features. Downloadable content is available for select games, which can range from character costumes to additional levels.
