    • 1). Cover the windows, rear glass and windshield with old paper or newspaper. Carefully size the paper and stick it to the edges of the windows with tape. You will need to stick the paper entirely onto the glass in a way that the entire paper's edges are in contact with the glass. There should be no open space between the paper and the glass.

    • 2). Remove certain small parts from the car and strip them of paint while they are separated from the car. These could be the bumper, the doors and the hood of the car.

    • 3). Fill the plastic bucket with drain cleaner. Place the car parts into the plastic bucket filled with drain cleaner, ensuring that all the parts are evenly dipped into the cleaner. Soak for ten minutes.

    • 4). Remove the parts from the bucket and rinse them thoroughly with water. Any residue left may harm the new paint job.

    • 5). Fill the bucket up with a new batch of drain cleaner. Pour the cleaner over the car in small portions and over small areas.

    • 6). Apply a metal conditioner to all of the car parts. This will remove any remaining residue and will also prevent rust from forming on the car.

    • 7). Rinse the car with water after ten minutes. It is now ready to be primed and painted.
