How to Reshaft a TaylorMade R9 Driver
- 1). Heat the hosel of driver with a heating gun, dispensing heat evenly until the epoxy connecting the head to the shaft melts. The hosel is the socket where the shaft enters the head.
- 2). Remove the old shaft.
- 3). Let the hosel cool and then clean inside of it thoroughly with a small piece of rolled sandpaper.
- 4). Cut the tip of the new shaft to the desired length and be sure to leave a flat end.
- 5). Drip new epoxy into the hosel.
- 6). Hold the new shaft in place with the grip end on the ground and fit with a new ferrule. A ferrule is a metal ring that strengthens the shaft at the joint.
- 7). Slide the hosel over the tip to fit the head onto the shaft.
- 8). Let the club set for 24 hours before use.
