How to: Lift & Turn Tub Drain Removal
- 1). Turn the drain stopper counterclockwise to remove it from the tub. Grab it with a wrench with the ends of the wrench wrapped in tape to prevent damage to the drain stopper if it is stuck. Use the wrench to remove the drain stopper.
- 2). Slide the ends of a pair of pliers into the exposed drain basket. Place a screwdriver between the handles of the pair of pliers and turn the pliers counterclockwise with the screwdriver to remove the drain.
- 3). Cut the end of the drain with a hacksaw if the drain is stuck. Make a notch in the end of the drain. Place a chisel into the notch and hit the chisel with a hammer so the drain moves counterclockwise to remove it. Do not saw too deep, since this will damage the tub itself.
