Write clearly but don't be afraid to be informal. Call your friends or family by name and don't use formal openings like "Dear Mom and Dad" or "Dear family," as this will make the postcard seem more serious than it needs to be. If you call people by name it will feel more welcoming. - 2

Follow up with something exciting about the vacation so far, a favorite experience, or a funny moment. What's useful here is if you've bought a postcard of somewhere you've been or something you've done. If you relate your first line to what's on the card, it will make your reader feel included in your experience, as well as keeping the postcard positive, upbeat and entertaining to read. - 3

Having written your header and first line, you can spend the rest of the postcard talking about other elements of the vacation. Mention each person with you as your reader will be interested in how everyone is doing. At this point, you could also mention what your accommodations and food is like, as well as what else you have planned for the trip. Then, check the postage is correct and mail the postcard.
