How to Get Goop Off Leather
- 1). Remove any excess goop by grabbing the blob with a paper towel. Avoid trying to wipe away the goop, which can inadvertently spread the staining material over the leather.
- 2). Mix 1 tbsp. cream of tarter with 1 tbsp. lemon juice in a small bowl and stir until blended. The cream of tarter helps protect and moisturize the leather while the lemon acids remove stains.
- 3). Apply the tarter-lemon mixture to the goop splotch using a cotton swab. Spread the mixture just beyond the stain perimeter. Let the tarter-lemon mixture set for at least 30 minutes, or longer if the goop sat on the leather for more than a few hours.
- 4). Remove the tarter-lemon mixture with a clean, damp cloth.
- 5). Mix 3 drops of hand soap with 2 drops of linseed oil and 1/3 cup of warm water in a small bowl until blended. Move a clean cloth in the mixture until suds appear. Massage the soaked cloth into the leather where the tarter-lemon sat for 30 minutes. The gentle hand soap removes the cream of tarter and lemon while the linseed oil conditions the leather.
- 6). Wipe away any remaining residue with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. Dry the affected area with a hair dryer if the leather still feels damp.
