Symptoms of an ovarian cyst vary greatly from person to person.
Some of the more common being lower stomach or pelvic pain (which may come and go and at times maybe severe) irregular menstrual periods, unusually painful menstrual periods, pain in the pelvis after strenuous exercise or sexual intercourse, pain or pressure associated with urination or bowel movements and sometimes unexplained weight gain.
Some ovarian cysts give no outward signs at all and are only discovered by chance during a routine physical exam.
There are numerous other symptoms that can be attributed to an ovarian cyst, however these are the most common.
If you have any of the above signs then a trip to your doctor is advisable.
Your doctor will then be in a position to advise you on the different types of treatment available.
One of the challenges faced by many women today is that traditional medical treatment such as the prescription of the birth control pill or even surgical procedures tend to deal only with the symptoms,that is the cyst itself.
