    • 1). Vacuum or sweep the floor. Remove loose dirt, dust and debris by thoroughly vacuuming or sweeping the area where the scuff marks are.

    • 2). Clean the area with a floor cleaner. Use your regular floor cleaner to mop the floor. This will loosen any dirt that has settled into the tiles and make removing the scuff marks easier. You might even be able to get up some of the scuff marks with a mop, hot water and floor cleaner. Apply a little floor cleaner directly to the scuff marks and let it set for a few minutes. Mop up the cleaner and let the floor dry.

    • 3). Use a pencil eraser for small scuff marks. Rub the eraser over the mark with a moderate pressure and see if it lifts. If it does not, next try a toothbrush or cloth with toothpaste. Toothpaste has a gentle grit for cleaning teeth and will not harm the tile. Apply the toothpaste to the brush or cloth and rub the mark in a circular motion. As a last resort, you can attempt to remove the scuff mark with a tennis ball. Use the ball like an eraser. If you need more leverage, you can slice an X into the top of the ball and insert a broom handle into the ball. Then place the ball on the floor and use the handle to scrub the stain out.
