Wild Horses Bets
I tend to be an advocate of smart betting and avoiding extremely risky bets in sportsbooks; however, every once in a while I need to make a medium size bet on horses with extremely low odds.
That doesn't mean I jump at the first opportunity without considering the factors that may influence the horse's performance, or the race. I take my time to analyze things; but when I bet on horses, I go with an all-or-nothing mentality. I know I will probably lose most of the time - even after doing my homework and selecting a great sportsbook - because I tend to bet on the extreme underdog.
That's what I call a wild bet.
Not a stupid bet generated as a result of an impulse.
It's a bet which takes into consideration the probabilities a horse with a high payout has of winning. If the odds are decent enough - it varies, but usually more than 10% - the horse is in top shape, and other factors help the odds, it can end up being very rewarding. With these types of bets paying 30 times or more, making a moderate sized bet of $500 - $1000 can be quite profitable.
As long as you study the odds carefully, learn to recognize when horses are in great shape, select a great sportsbook and have Donbot's lucky foot with you, you have a great chance of making a lot of cash this way.
It's simple math; if you bet the same amount every time and lose 25 times or less before winning - assuming all payouts are 30 times the amount placed or more - you can make a substantial amount of profit.
Sportsbooks sometimes offer different odds, so be sure to check out which sportsbook is offering the best deal on "your" horse.
Also, using several sportsbooks might be a good idea not only because of the different odds, but because if you win twice almost in a row in a single sportsbook, they will keep tabs on you. And if you get lucky and win a third time, they will find a way to ban you and retain your money.
That's something that happens more frequently than it should, but you need to understand that sportsbooks are businesses which don't like those players who win constantly, large sums of money, or both. They make their living through players who have no idea what they are doing and lose constantly, so they don't want us winners sucking their life force away.
In any case, if you use multiple sportsbooks you will be able to keep a low profile even if you win three times in a row by some unnatural luck.
So go ahead, take some chances once in a while. It's quite a thrill and can be very rewarding.
