High school seniors are shopping for the latest trends in photography to claim their image.
The hustle and bustle of the back to school crowd is upon us.
The high school class of 2011 is settling in to their new schedules and preparing for college, vocational schools, military and more.
The high school senior portrait is traditionally the first portrait session that is all about senior and not part of some family portrait session.
This is the time for the senior to show off accomplishments and hobbies, sports and other activities.
Many studios recognize that today's seniors are more technically savvy and want something different from the other kids at school.
Photography studios will cater to the seniors and have special areas of the studio devoted to this market.
The senior's experience often starts with a consultation to discuss clothing choices, and special locations that appeal to the client.
Parents are usually included in this meeting and throughout the process.
The photographer may encourage the high school seniors to bring in their iPods to have their favorite music playing in the camera room during the session.
Special locations are often chosen and can add impact to the finished images.
Many seniors include their favorite activities such as: on horseback, rock climbing, snowboarding or even in a swimming pool.
How cool is it to have a portrait taken with your new truck at a favorite location with the mountains in the background.
Today's high school seniors are excited to be close to graduation and want to have portraits that show their personality.
They have surfed the net and seen what other people have done in the past.
That is not what they want for themselves.
The photographer has to be able to create portraits that truly show something new and fresh.
Senior portrait studios have to stay current with the trends in fashion and music.
Stay artistic, incorporate black and white, colorful backgrounds, new locations.
Many studios also offer other products for the senior and their family including; DVDs of images, graduation announcements, purses, jewelry...
etc.
