Take a stroll down to St. Lawrence Gap where a variety of restaurants line the street. • Barbados is said to be the birthplace of rum, invented around 370 years ago. If you plan a visit, you can't leave without having a refreshing rum drink. There are several rum shops on the island, similar to pub bars, where you're sure to hear Bajan stories while sipping on a delicious libation. Plan for a few hours at one of the rum distilleries to see the process and get a sample of the happy spirit.
