How to Force Narcissus Bulbs
- 1). Place the narcissus bulbs in your refrigerator's vegetable drawer immediately after purchasing the bulbs. Store them there for four weeks.
- 2). Spread gravel in a clear glass bowl.
- 3). Cover the top of the gravel with the narcissus bulbs. Position each bulb with its pointed end upward.
- 4). Pour water into the bowl so it reaches the top of the gravel, but doesn't get the bulbs wet.
- 5). Put the bowl in a dark location, such as a closet or cupboard shelf, for approximately two months.
- 6). Check for flower shoots periodically. When you see shoots, move the bowl of narcissus bulbs into a sunny spot near a window.
- 7). Rotate the bowl every day to provide even light, so the flower stems grow straight upward. Add water as needed to keep the water near the top of the gravel, but not touching the bulbs.
